Crews battling 400-acre Crabapple wildfire near Fredericksburg, Texas
The Crabapple fire started at around 1 p.m. Saturday.
FREDERICKSBURG, Texas — Fire officials are currently battling a 400-acre fire near Fredericksburg, Texas, according to authorities.
Departments from across Gillepsie County have responded to this grass fire located in the 8700 block of Lower Crabapple. Officials say it started around 1 p.m. Saturday.
Smoke will be visible in and around that area and further, according to officials.
Officials say to avoid the area as crews work to contain the fire. Texas A&M Forest Service have reported that its 400 acres in size.
According to the Texas A&M Forest Service, the 400-acre fire is 0% contained as of 3 p.m. Saturday.
Around 2 p.m., the forest service said it was sending air support to assist ground crews, according to our sister station KVUE.
As of 3 p.m., Fredericksburg Fire and EMS said there are no evacuations orders in place, but residents are asked to be aware of the changing conditions and crews on the ground, and be prepared to evacuate if that is requested.
